Ana Cristina Alvarado

Ana Cristina Alvarado was born in El Salvador. She did her secondary and university studies in England, Spain and France. She studied History of Costume and Jewellery, emphasizing the anthropological need of mankind for adornment. She then went on to study Gemology at the Gemological Institute of America, in New York and has for the last eighteen years worked in her field of study, with Houses like Cartier, Poiray and Harry Winston.
For more than thirteen years now, she has been Director of International Marketing, of Giovane, Ltd., one of the largest consortiums of Italian jewellery manufacturers. She has traveled extensively all over the world for business and for pleasure. She speaks fluently Spanish, English, French and Italian.
Her major interests are the Arts, especially Ballet and Opera, which she has supported wherever she has lived. She has also been committed all her life to doing community service, especially helping underprivileged children. She is currently on the boards of The School of American Ballet and Casita Maria, the oldest Catholic charity in New York, serving the communities
She has one eighteen-year-old son, Fernando Andres, who is currently studying at The Gow School in Buffalo, New York. Both reside between New York City and Guatemala City, Guatemala.
