Hilda Ochoa-Brillembourg

President and CEO, Strategic Investment Group

Hilda Ochoa-Brillembourg is President and Chief Executive Officer of Strategic Investment Group® (SIG), and Managing Director, Emerging Markets Investment Corporation and Emerging Markets Management (EMI/EMM), investment management groups she founded in 1987, which design and implement global investment strategies for large institutional and individual investors.  SIG and its affiliates offer global expertise in virtually every asset class:  U.S. and non-U.S. equities and fixed income, real estate, private equity, hedged strategies, and other alternative investments. Assets under management for SIG and affiliates are $52 billion as of December 2007.

From 1976-87 she was the chief investment officer of the Pension Investment Division at the World Bank.  A native of Venezuela, Ms. Ochoa has served as an independent consultant in the fields of economics and finance, a lecturer at the Universidad Catolica Andres Bello in Venezuela and as treasurer of the C.A. Luz Electrica de Venezuela in Caracas prior to joining the World Bank.  She is a Chartered Financial Analyst, has a M.P.A. degree from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and has completed all but dissertation requirements for a Doctorate in Business Administration in Finance from the Harvard Business School.  Ms. Ochoa is featured in the December 2004 Fortune article, “Investor’s Guide to 2005,” November 2004 Smart Money article, “Power 30 Investors,” and an October 8th MarketWatch.com article. In the October 2002 issue of Money Magazine, Ms. Ochoa was a member of “The Ultimate Investment Club.” In 2000 she was selected by Money Magazine as one of the 50 most successful businesswomen in the United States and in 2005 was named by Hispanic Business magazine as one of the “80 Elite Women” of the year. She also has been a guest on Wall Street Week and MSNBC “Summit on Wall Street,” CNN Español, Bloomberg Latin America and has published articles in the Financial Analyst Journal and Pensions & Investments.

A Fulbright Fellow and Fulbright Lifetime Achievement Awardee, Ms. Ochoa serves on the Board of Directors of the World Bank/International Monetary Fund Credit Union, the Harvard Management Company, General Mills and McGraw-Hill Companies. She is a member of the executive committee of The Washington National Opera, and is founder and chairman of the Youth Orchestra of the Americas. She is vice chairman of the Group of 50, a group of leading Latin American CEOs, sponsored by the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and serves on the board of the Fulbright Foundation and the Atlantic Council of the United States. In addition, she serves on the advisory committees of the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies and The Hauser Center at Harvard University.

She is a member of the Washington Society of Financial Analysts, the Association for Investment Management and Research and has served on the Association’s Candidate Curriculum Committee, The World Economic Forum and The Research Council on Global Investment, The Conference Board. Ms. Ochoa is married and has three children.
