JoAnn Mason

JoAnn Mason received her BA in Art History from The George Washington University. Following graduation, she participated in a graduate study program in Museum Conservation and Restoration at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History, which included a course of study on the Etruscan Civilization in the area of Sienna, Italy. As a child, living in Philadelphia, Mrs. Mason studied piano and attended the Settlement Music School. Her love of music led to her 26-year involvement with the Washington National Opera where she served on the Board of Trustees and for several years, as Chairman of the Patron Program (The Camerata and Medici Society). She was a member of the Board of Trustees of the American University in Washington, DC. and of the Dumbarton Concert Series and she was a member of the Washington chapter of the Commanderie de Bordeaux. Mrs. Mason is presently a Trustee of the Youth Orchestra of the Americas where she serves on the Artistic Committee. She is on the advisory Board of Control Bionics (a technology company dealing with spinal cord and other traumatic injuries). She is also at the present time, an active member of the Board of Directors of the Myeloproliferative Neoplasm Foundation. Her interests include; music (especially opera), art, wine and aviation. Mrs. Mason currently resides in Washington, DC with her husband John J. Mason, former Chairman and CEO of the NS&T Bank. Together they have two daughters, Lauren and Jaclyn.
