YOA Orchestra of the Americas Library Internship
Summer 2010 Tour
Library Internship Guidelines
The 2010 YOA Library Internship will last from June 29 through August 15, 2010. This position will operate with the staff, faculty, and orchestra members during the YOA tour through South America (Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Brazil). The intern will report to Maria Montano, head of library, and when appropriate, Mark Gillespie, Artistic Manager.
The tour begins on June 30th, 2010 and concludes August 15th. The YOA Library Intern will accompany musicians and staff members on tour to Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Brazil. All travel, housing, meals, and other travel-related expenses will be covered by YOA. Library Intern may be asked to share a hotel room for the duration of the tour with another staff member.
Pre Tour Responsibilities:
  • Read and understand tour programs and concert instrumentations
  •  Assist in the preparation and distribution of practice music
  • Other responsibilities to be determined according to geographic location
 
Tour Responsibilities:
  • Assisting in the distribution, and collection of music as necessary for rehearsals and concerts
  • Assisting in the preparation of parts: copying bowings, inserting cuts, dynamics, etc.
  • Assisting the faculty in the preparation of chamber music repertoire as needed
  • Attending to all rehearsals and concerts
  • While on tour they might be asked to assist other members of the staff as needed
  • Other responsibilities to be determined
 
Requirements
  • Minimum of 1 year music library experience preferred
  • Basic knowledge of classical music and orchestral repertoire
  • Must be able to work closely and effectively with guest artists, faculty, students, and staff
  • Knowledge of computer programs (Microsoft office)
  • Ability to work fast under pressure
  • Experience in working with copy machines
  • Must be fluent in English and Spanish
