Biography

Alex Klein is one of the world’s foremost oboists, and maintains an equal dedication to cultural, humanitarian and educational issues around the world. Klein appears regularly as conductor, oboe soloist and pedagogue in the United States, France, Japan, China, Brazil, Mexico, Panama, Argentina and Spain, developing and assisting music projects aimed at regular concert-goers as well as early childhood education. Klein can be heard in the top concerts halls in the world such as Carnegie Hall, Berliner Philharmonie (Berlin), Royal Albert Hall (London) and Bunka Kaikan (Tokyo) as well as music festivals in Mozambique and classrooms, music schools and upstart music ventures in developing countries. Klein has also taught master classes in the top music conservatories in the world, such as the Juilliard School in New York, the Paris Conservatory and the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing. Klein leads or participates in numerous musical ventures designed to bring together young people of various nacionalities. He is Artistic Director of the Santa Catarina Music Festival in Brazil, which annually brings together hundreds of young performers from four continents for two weeks of orchestra and chamber music performances, as well as individual instruction and nearly 100 social concerts in the region. He is also Associate Conductor of the Saint-Barths Music Festival in the French West Indies,and is a regular guest conductor in Brazil, with the Brazilian Symphony of Rio, the São Paulo Opera Orchestra, Bahia Symphony, National Theater Orchestra in Brasilia, bahia Symphony and many others. In 2007, Klein made his USA Conducting Debut, leading the Sunflower Festival Orchestra in three weeks of concerts, and was immediately invited to be the festival’s new Principal Guest Conductor.
