He began his studies with his father Ricardo Mejia at age ten, in 1998 he became member of the youth simphony orchestra of Costa Rica and held the position of first horn til year 2001, that same year he was invited to go to interlochen summer arts camp in wich he was awarded the maddy award. About two years later he won the gold medal as well as the young soloists competition in Costa Rica both competitions sponsored by the national music institute, in 2004 he went to his first YOA tour and in 2005 he won a scholarship to attend to Oberlin Conservatory of music, his teachers were Roland Pandolfi, Luis Murillo Bolaños , Ricardo Mejia and Randall faust, in 2006 he was invited to perform at the Kennedy center in their millenium stage program for young soloists, nowadays he holds the posistion of first horn at the Filarmonica De Bogota.
