Biography

Patricia Silva started to play the bass at the Brasilia Music School, Brazil with Ricardo Vasconcellos. After that she studied at Belo Horizonte with Dr. Fausto Borem in the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG), where she completed her undergraduate studies. . Ms. Silva has participated in and won several prizes and awards like the First place in the Paulo Bosisio National String competition, The Furnas Geracao Musical Program and the Young Soloists of UFMG; second place in the Instrumental Music for Young Players and Honorable Mention in the Young Soloist of Bahia’s Symphony and the William T. Gower Competition. She was also a semifinalist in the 2007 Sphinx competition and in this same year was invited to join the Sphinx Chamber Orchestra as principal bass in its concert in the Carnegie Hall. Currently she is a member of the Meridian Symphony Orchestra, the Sinfonia Gulf Coast Orchestra, and the Emsemble Nuevo. She is also working on her Masters Degree with Dr. Marcos Machado at the University of Southern Mississippi.
