Biography
Bio
Chenni chen, was born in Taiwan and began her cello studies at the age thirteen while attending the Pallotti High School in Belize. There she studied with Sharon Fransises and quickly became the principal cellist for the Belizean Chamber Music group. At age sixteen, she gave a joint recital with Mrs. Fransise in England. Chen received her Bachelor of Music Performance from the University of Kentucky and then attended Graduate school at the Cleveland State University with a full scholarship. She has attended numerous summer music festivals, including Texas Music Festival, Manchester Music Festival, Garthnewl Music Festival, Nice Conservatory Music Festival, and most recently, she joined the Jeunesses Musicales World Orchestra for the 2006-07 summer and winter tours. The tours took place in Spain, Germany, Netherlands, and Cyprus. She as performed in master classes for Hai-Ye Ni, Marc Copey, Desmond Hoebig, the Shang Hai String Quartet, and the Cavani String Quartet. Her teachers include Sharon Fransises, Benjamin Karp, Bryan Dumm and Alan Herral. Currently Chenni Chen is attending Carnegie Mellon University where she studies with Anne Martindale Williams, principal cellist of the Pittsburgh Symphony.
